Wireless Printer Setup Guide

Before you start

Keep the printer, your Wi-Fi network name (SSID), the Wi-Fi password, and the computer or mobile device you plan to print from nearby. For initial setup, placing the printer within reasonable range of the router can make the connection process easier.

1. Turn on the printer

Mobile devices

5. Confirm the connection

Select the correct printer and send a simple test document or built-in test page. Confirm that the selected printer is the device you intended to use and that the document appears in the print queue.

Common setup issues to check

• The printer is connected to a different Wi-Fi network than the computer or mobile device.
• The Wi-Fi password was entered incorrectly.
• The printer is too far from the wireless router during setup.
• The selected printer is offline, sleeping, or not powered on.
• The required manufacturer software or driver is not installed.
• Network settings, guest-network isolation, or other router configuration prevents devices from discovering one another.

When the printer is not detected

First confirm that the printer is powered on and connected to the intended Wi-Fi network. Then verify that the computer or mobile device is using the expected network.
